Module 1: Student Assessment
Step 1 - Choose an Assessment
CCAP comes with valid, reliable, formative, and summative assessments developed by Region 4 for all content areas. Selecting one of these assessments is just a click away. Users can build three types of tests:
- Tests with only CCAP items
- Tests with CCAP items and user-developed items
- Tests that only contain user-developed items
To create a test, select any or all of the strands in the state standards and the student expectations to be tested. The system identifies questions the user can select to create the test. After items are selected, CCAP formats the test. You also can create a reading test by first selecting a passage and viewing the standards assessed through the items in that passage. Users have access to many tools that make creating a test effortless. We think you'll agree 'easy to do' is a good description of this assessment module.
Step 2 - Administer the Assessment
CCAP formats assessments for both online and paper-pencil administration. For paper-pencil tests, the system prints the answer key for the teacher as well as a print-ready assessment master and pre-slugged answer documents with all student information. Once students have taken the test, the answer documents can be scanned using the district's scanning process, CCAP will then automatically score and record each student's test. This scan and score feature is included in Module 1 pricing. When students take a test online, the individual student log-in pages are customized for an elementary, middle school, or high school student. Students can return to, and edit, any answer while taking the online test. After students complete the assessment, they simply click 'I'm finished'.
Because CCAP is a management system and not just a warehouse for assessment items, student information is loaded and stored. Districts can upload grades and attendance, truly making this a one-stop system. Online tests can be scheduled for an individual student or a whole class. This feature allows the teacher to make modifications to meet student special needs. CCAP easily creates reports of those modifications, which is helpful for federal and state reporting.
Step 3 - Obtain Student Performance Information
CCAP provides immediate data visualization of assessment results correlated by student, teacher (class), grade level, subgroups, campus, district, and/or custom fields. Student responses to written performance assessments are stored for multiple years, allowing teachers to design teaching and learning based on students' strengths and weaknesses. Data is stored for up to 17 years, and student data for prior years can be uploaded, making CCAP one of the most powerful online systems available!
